Prime Minister orders to open closed government industries

A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tariq Rahman to reopen closed government industries, accelerate privatization activities and attract domestic and foreign investment to open these factories.

 

The meeting was held on Thursday (July 30) at 3:30 pm in the meeting room of the Cabinet Division of the Secretariat.

 

In the meeting, it was decided to take necessary steps to speed up the opening of government industries, which have been closed for a long time, to speed up the activities by removing bureaucratic complications and to start production activities quickly by attracting private investment in these industries. The Prime Minister has ordered to complete this process by 2026.

 

Besides, in the meeting, the concerned organizations were instructed to take effective initiatives to ensure an investment-friendly environment.

 

In the meeting, Finance and Planning Advisor Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Commerce, Industry and Textiles and Jute Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, State Minister for Textiles and Jute Md. Shariful Alam, Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Ashiq Chowdhury and senior officials of related ministries and organizations were present.
